Sound healing is a preventive and maintenance tool for our health and well-being. The healing session works through your personal energy field and treats the totality of you, healing all aspects (physical, mental, emotional and spiritual) of your being in a non- invasive completely safe process. Sound healing never conflicts with the traditional medical treatments rather it facilitates and enhances them. It speeds the recovery process and is a source of energy during illness.

Sound healing session’s main goal is that you experience deep rest and relaxation and find balance and harmony in life. When done regularly you can have profound health benefits. Following are the list of some of the health benefits of sound healing sessions:

The sound waves or vibrations created by gongs, and singing bowls, synchronize with your brainwave frequencies activating destress responses and allow profound state of relaxation. Each bowl produces a soothing vibration that radiate out all the negative energy which restricts us to reach to our full potential. And once our negative energy is dispelled out, we are ready to live in peace and harmony.

Group sound healing sessions are commonly called Sound baths. Sound baths are held in a group, couples, as well as in one-to-one sessions.

In this type of session, you just have to lay down on your back and allow yourself to soak in the deep soothing sounds from Tibetan Singing bowls and Gong to nourish and open up your body, mind and soul to your full potential. Your ears will be listening to the sounds and the vibrations will be received by your body. These healing tones and frequencies will guide your body to relax, release all tension, bring balance, re-energize your auric field besides shifting the mind from a more active(beta) state to a more relaxed(theta) and dreamlike state to stimulate self-healing.

 It’s a deeply mesmerizing experience where all you have to do is “Just listen and Receive.”

Whenever you have an energy blockage somewhere, an acupuncturist helps to unlock it. The sound bath is similar, as the overall purpose is to create a state of harmony by opening up your energy channels but here, we use frequency and vibrations instead of needles.

A sound bath releases emotions trapped in your mind and leads to self-inquiry. The vibrations shake things up at the root level and release all energies accumulated through past experiences. So, you might feel overjoyed or sad during the session.

Please bring a pillow, a blanket or anything to cover your body to feel warm and comfortable lying on the floor for an hour long sonic vibrational experience.

The number of sound healing sessions needed is solely dependent upon the purpose for receiving the session.

Some people attend healing sessions for the purpose of deep relaxation and to feel more balanced and calmer while others attend to cope up with their pains and other ailments (e.g. Arthritis, Back pain, Anxiety, Blood pressure, Constipation etc.).

Therefore, for some only two or three healing sessions are enough while others need quite a few before they notice anything. And if you have a chronic problem you want to work on with, the healer will evaluate how many sessions you require. Usually, 1-2 sessions are performed each week depending upon the chronicity of the problem. 

Once you experience a session, you will feel and know within yourself the effects of the therapy you got and can decide if you need further sessions.

However, you can enjoy sound healing as often as you like. Booking in a regular sound healing session (e.g., weekly/ biweekly/ monthly) is a lovely way to re-balance and commit to your self-care routine. I do recommend a journal in between sessions to track your healing and growth.

Healing is self-paced. Healing a disease is similar to peeling an onion, often there are layers of emotions attached to it. Our current medical system is so focused on physical ailments that it often fails to consider the mental, emotional and spiritual aspect of an illness. And if one part of you gets sick, then the rest of you is thrown off balance.

Your body will be healing itself as your inner powers are being activated through the session, so you might feel some aches or pains. But don’t worry your body is integrating the healing you have received.

Sometimes previous symptoms could reappear for a while before disappearing completely. This might occur if an ailment/ symptom has been suppressed in the past with certain medication such as steroids.

Wellness can’t be achieved if only the physical symptoms are treated. You must cure all sides (physical, mental, emotional and spiritual) to strengthen the human structure.

Every individual is unique, so their capacity to heal. So be patient. As you don’t get an illness in a day, the same way you won’t get healed in a day.

And the only time sound healing can’t work is when you don’t trust or believe in these kind of natural healing modalities.

Your sound healing session is as unique as you are.  So, the experience differs from person to person. It also depends upon body’s ability to receive the healing. Usually while receiving a healing session, you will feel very relaxed and may have a floating feeling.

It is also possible that you experience different emotions or thoughts that you had suppressed might pop up and if they do, you are probably supposed to release them.

Therefore, I always encourage participants to let go of any expectations and just be with the sounds.

Staying open minded about the process will allow you to truly experience every aspect because having predisposed mindsets towards the session before taking part in it, can influence your experience as a whole.

So, if you are coming for your first session, try not to expect anything and let the results surprise you!!!

Take some time to think about what you really want to work on, before your session and then prepare yourself for an intense physical, emotional and spiritual cleansing to open yourself to the highest healing possible.
Set your intentions and be positive.
Kindly arrive 15 minutes before the start of session to settle yourself in the space with calm mind.
Wear loose, softly textured clothing and be prepared to lie down on floor for an hour to 90 minutes.
Keep yourself hydrated throughout the day by drinking 8-10 glasses of water. Sound waves travel better through water. When you are well hydrated, you will have a better experience.
Eat light and healthy meal 2-3 hours before the session.
To maximize your experience, I recommend avoiding alcohol, smoking, caffeine, and other addictive substance at least 24 hours in advance.
For Sound bath group sessions, bring any items for your personal comfort- a yoga mat, a pillow, your special blanket, your own eye pillow if you prefer.

It is recommended that when you get home, drink plenty of water to keep energy moving through your body and this will also support your system to release toxins. Please remember that there is a lot happening within you after the session, so treat your body with care and nurture it as healing may be taking place in your subconscious. Also avoid alcohol, caffeine, carbonated drinks, smoking and junk food for few days to get the maximum result.

It all depends on the environment and mindsets people are in, after each experience. There is no definite time for the effects to stay with the participant although many of my clients reported that after a healing session, they had the most restful sleep after a very long time and the next few days were quite relaxed.
Tibetan sound healing is not recommended during pregnancy, people with pacemakers or other implants, serious heart conditions, acute or serious mental health problems or those who may suffer from sound induced epilepsy.
